Today we went to Izu area for the first time! Shizouka Prefecture is so unbelievably stunning, we are already planning our next trip back. From what my students have told me too, the prefecture can essentially be split into 3 completely different areas, so I can't wait to discover the beauty of every single one of them!
Today in the Izu area, we mainly explored Kawazu and it's seven waterfalls. Our highlights of the day particularly include the express train journey down the coastline with exceptional views, seeing almost-mountainous hilly landscapes covered in greenery, hiking through the forest to discover all seven of Kawazu's waterfalls and a fun-filled local train journey home. Our local trains took us along the coast once more, then through Atami and finally the long way round into Tokyo. We meant to get the limited express journey but for to book seats until a few hours before and then it was full, and anyway the next limited express was in almost 2 hours so we figured, it worked out for the best in the end! We got to see some more new places and ride more different types of trains (which of course I adored).
We packed a lovely picnic again, for both lunch and dinner (or dinner and tea as our family would say ha,) which consisted of a vegan bento of rice, sesame spinach, homemade pickles, kimchi, vegan bacon, lettuce and carrot salad for lunch, and a homemade flatbread with vegan doner meat, pickles, salad, hot sauce and vegan mayo for dinner. We also took a bunch of beautiful pictures today, which I will drop below. Unfortunately, we still don't have our new camera uet, so the quality of the pictures aren't the best, but we had fun and did what we could with our phones. We hope you like the low res images nonetheless.
Sorry this blog is short, but I'm writing it on my last train back and I'm very tired haha. Plus, you'll have like 5 blogs to read this week so many keeping them short and sweet is better for you too?
Hope you enjoy!
